The partially detailed and structurally preserved park of De Schaffelaar can be divided into two parts: a. The largest part of the site consists of a construction of the former house from the 18th century and is characterized by its original structure from the 18th century. consisting of a long main or central axis (southwest-northeast orientation) with a rectangular water site of the old house town Koeweide on the southwest side, which was excavated in the 19th century in landscape forms; to the right of the axis is a star forest and to the left a park forest with a walk and a landscape-style pond from the beginning of the 19th century. b. In the immediate vicinity of the current house there is a relatively small, 19th century landscape style building, for which the area was expanded in 1850 by a strip of land on the south-west side to create a landscape surrounding the newly built house; The landscape architects JD and LP Zocher were commissioned to realize the building in 1853. The fact that the construction to integrate the two parts is not based on a clear concept is unusual for a landscape park from the 19th century. A large number of divers, passages and locks were installed in the park to regulate water management.
