    Pergamon Museum Berlin
    The Pergamon Museum in Berlin's Mitte district is part of the building ensemble of the Museum Island and is therefore a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Planned by Alfred Messel in the neoclassical style from 1907 to 1909 on behalf of Kaiser Wilhelm II, it was executed in a simplified form by Ludwig Hoffmann from 1910 to 1930. It is currently home to the antiquities collection with the famous Pergamon Altar, the Near Eastern Museum and the Museum of Islamic Art. As part of the Museum Island master plan, the Pergamon Museum will be renovated by 2023 and will be partially closed.

              The Pergamon Museum is currently being extensively renovated and is only partially accessible. The famous Pergamon Altar, the showpiece of the collection, is expected to be open to visitors again in 2025.

              During the construction period, some exhibits from Pergamon are on display in the "Pergamon Museum. The Panorama" opposite. The visit is worthwhile, either together with a visit to the main museum or separately.

                  Goodbye Pergamon Museum.

                  We were lucky to get tickets for one of the last admission days this week.
                  From October 23rd is over. It is closing completely due to renovations.
                  The areas that have been under renovation since 2013 are scheduled to take place in 2027 and will not be fully reopened until 2037.

                  It is the only museum in the world where so many large original objects from antiquity can be seen.
                  The world-famous Ishtar Gate and the Market Gate of Miletus now remain hidden for a long time.

                  We made the most of the day, our visit lasted over 6 hours.
                  Whoever still has tickets, enjoy it.

                    The Pergamon Panorama by Yadegar Asisi was opened on November 19, 2018. Parts of the Pergamon Altar and a video installation about the Pergamon Altar can be viewed there.
                    The opening hours are daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is currently €12, reduced €6, children and young people up to 18 years of age have free admission.
