Old Museum, Berlin
The Altes Museum am Lustgarten in Berlin's Mitte district is part of the building ensemble of the Museum Island and is therefore a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Commissioned by King Friedrich Wilhelm III. Built in 1825-1830 by Karl Friedrich Schinkel, it is one of the main works of German classicism. It is surrounded by the Berlin Cathedral to the east, the rebuilt Berlin Palace to the south and the Arsenal to the west. The Altes Museum is currently home to the antiquities collection and part of the coin cabinet.

The Altes Museum (when the Neues Museum opened, then the Royal Museum until 1845) on Berlin's Museum Island was built by Karl Friedrich Schinkel in the style of classicism from 1825 to 1830 and opened on August 3, 1830. The educational museum building was modeled on the Athens Propylaea. It originally housed the works of art from the Gemäldegalerie. Today the museum houses the antique collection of the State Museums in Berlin. The listed building is one of the most important of classicism and is considered a high point in Schinkel's work. It is part of the ensemble of buildings on Museum Island, which was included in UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1999.

Another interesting place to visit in Berlin if you have the time and feel like it. Opening times: Tuesday to Thursday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 12 a.m. to 6 p.m. The museum is closed on Monday and Friday.
