Herrnhut church hall
Our church hall is dear to our hearts like no other building in Herrnhut. We cannot imagine community life without it. It used to be called the "community hall" or "prayer hall". The foundations of our church hall date back to 1756. On the night of May 8th to 9th, 1945, the church hall, along with large parts of the city center, burned down completely after arson. The hall was rebuilt from 1951 to 1956 and now has space for around 600 people. Since 2005, it has been extensively renovated in several phases.
It is the most important meeting room for the community and its guests. The white color of the walls and benches symbolizes purity, joy and redemption. The simple design shows off the most important thing, the assembled community. Until the middle of the 20th century, women and men sat separately in the Great Hall and even today the left side is called the "sisters' side" and the right side the "brothers' side". All meetings can be transmitted to the Herrnhut Diakonie buildings via video.

The foundation stone for the first prayer room was laid on May 12, 1724. At the end of the war 8./9. May 1945 1/3 of the place was destroyed by arson. The inauguration of the destroyed and since 1951 rebuilt church hall was on August 9th, 1953
