The Promenade du Peyrou, also known as Place Royale du Peyrou, is a 4.59 ha1 esplanade located to the west of the Écusson district in the city of Montpellier (Hérault), on the edge of the former “commune- fencing ". This set, classified as a historic monument, represents a conjunction of five works: the promenade and its terraces allowing you to contemplate the Cévennes and the Pyrenees which was fitted out in 1689, the Porte du Peyrou or the Arc de Triomphe with its bridge and its access ramps, made in 1691, the equestrian statue of Louis XIV erected in 1718, the Saint-Clément aqueduct and its reservoir built from 1753, the water tower whose project was selected in 1766, the child statues and lion of Injalbert and the gates of the entrances in 18832. Later, in 1927, the construction of an analemmatic sundial, carried out on the initiative of Pr Pierre Humbert and in 1939, the taking of the symbolic photo of the resistant Jean Mill.

In Montpellier, the Promenade du Peyrou is a lovely place to cool off. Due to its elevated position, the promenade often has a pleasant breeze. It also offers a wonderful view of the hinterland and the coast.
