Together with Michaelkirchplatz, the Catholic St. Michael's Church, once the former border strip has been cleared, once again forms the urban center that can be seen from afar, as it was planned with the construction of the Luisenstadt.
Destroyed in the Second World War to the surrounding walls, choir and transept were simplified from 1948 rebuilt and used as a church.
1984-87 followed the installation of a community center in the former nave. Large parts of St. Michael's Church are today only handed down as a ruin. Inside, remains of the original equipment are kept and exhibited.

The St. Michael Church, built between 1851 and 1856, is the third oldest Roman Catholic church in Berlin to be built after the Reformation. Michaelskirche was partially destroyed during the Second World War and was not completely rebuilt afterwards. The church is located in the Mitte district in the historic Luisenstadt on the border between the Mitte and Kreuzberg districts. It is considered to be a brilliant implementation of the round arch style typical of Karl Friedrich Schinkel by his student August Soller. The building is a historical monument.
