A pearl in the Kehdinger Land is the Elbe island of Krautsand. In 1575, an island in the middle of the Elbe river with the name "Krutsand" was mentioned for the first time. From 1620 the first real houses were built on mounds of earth (Wurten) on Krautsand to protect against storm surges. From 1976 Krautsand was dyked.

Even barefoot, it is no problem to walk along here. The slope to the Elbe is not completely flat, however. You often walk a little "at an angle".
