The shield boring machine T.R.U.D.E., an acronym for Tief Runter Unter Die Elbe,
was the largest tunnel boring machine in the world at the time, with an outer diameter of 14.20 meters. For the expansion of the new Elbe Tunnel in Hamburg, a 2,560-meter-long fourth tunnel was bored beneath the Elbe Riverbed between October 1997 and March 2000 using the shield boring method. The tunnel boring machine, weighing over 2,000 tons, removed approximately 400,000 cubic meters of sand, gravel, and rock at an average speed of 6 meters per day.

The impressive drill head, with which the fourth tube of the Elbe tunnel was driven under the Elbe, is exhibited on the Bert-Kämpfert-Platz on the banks of the Osterbekkanal. Right next to it is the café / restaurant of the same name with outdoor terrace where you can sit outside in summer car-free. Somewhat smaller and in my opinion also netter that goes a bit further forward in Lüt Liv in the former tin melt.
