      The Holy Iglesia Catedral Basílica de la Encarnación is the cathedral of Malaga. Located opposite the Plaza del Obispo, the Cathedral is considered one of the most valuable Renaissance jewels in Andalusia. The Cathedral is within the boundaries marked by the missing Arab wall on the site of the primitive aljama mosque, the place where the Catholic Monarchs Isabel and Fernando ordered construction a few days after conquering the city in 1487 of a Christian Cathedral.

              Built between 1528 and 1782, the Cathedral of Málaga (Santa Iglesia Catedral Basílica de la Encarnación) is located on Calle Molina Lario in the city center, north of Paseo Parque, just a few hundred meters from the city harbor. In its immediate vicinity are other attractions such as the birthplace of Pablo Picasso in the Plaza de la Merced and the two former Moorish castles of Gibralfaro and Alcazaba.

                    Málaga Cathedral was built by the Christian conquerors above a mosque in 1528. Although two towers were planned in the original plans, only one was later completed due to lack of funds, which gave the cathedral its popular name "La Manquita" ("little one-armed lady").                         The beginnings of the Episcopal Palace of Malaga (Palacio Episcopal) date back to the 16th century in the style of the Baroque. In the palace there is a small diocesan museum, in which changing exhibitions take place.
                        Considered one of the most representative buildings in Málaga, the palace comprises a large block made up of two parts from the 16th century. The third part was originally intended as residence of the prelate and originates in the Baroque style of the end of the 18th century. Particularly noteworthy is the staircase of the imperial-style palace and the main façade, in the upper part of which is a group of marble "Virgen de las Angustias" sculpted by Fernando Ortiz from Malaga.

                              Málaga has developed incredibly in recent years and is probably one of the most beautiful city centers of Spain. Alone the transformation of the port is huge. It used to be ugly, just a harbor, but now there is a nice boardwalk, bars and more cruise ships.
