Colmar Municipal Theatre
At the beginning of the 19th century, numerous studies were conducted to determine whether to build a theatre either in the Hôtel de la Six Montagnes Noires, in the Dominican Church, or alternatively on the Place de la Gare or the Champ de Mars. Ultimately, the decision was made to build the theatre behind the Unterlinden Dominican Monastery. Construction began in 1847 and lasted two years, culminating in the theatre's opening on March 8, 1849. Designed in the Neoclassical style, the theatre is the work of architect Louis-Michel Boltz, who also designed Colmar's market halls in 1865. The Italianate interior was created by the Parisian decorator Boulangé. The theatre was enlarged in 1902 and restored between 1999 and 2000.

The idea of building a theater for the city dates back to the early 1820s.
It was not until thirty years later that the building, the work of the architect Louis-Michel Boltz of Belfortain, opened its doors to the publishk (the theater was inaugurated on March 8, 1849).

Faced with the growth of the city's population, the theater was enlarged in 1902, new stage machines were built.

The theater was again renovated between July 1999 and November 2000 .

A tour of the Musée Unterlinden is like a journey through time. The encyclopedic collections illuminate 7,000 years of history from prehistoric times to 20th-century art. At the same time, the visitor discovers the numerous facets of the museum architecture, unified and sublimated by the architects Herzog & de Meuron. The art of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance with the Isenheim Altarpiece (1512-1516), the masterpiece by Grünewald and Niklaus von Hagenau, as well as paintings by Martin Schongauer, Hans Holbein, Lucas Cranach and others, is housed in the medieval monastery. Opened in 1906, the old Stadtbad offers a reasonable space for temporary exhibitions, and the contemporary wing features work by major 20th-century artists including Monet, de Staël, Picasso and Dubuffet.
