Wilhelm Anton Riedemann, von Riedemann since 1917 (born December 8, 1832, in Meppen; died January 20, 1920, in Lugano) was a German merchant, entrepreneur, and pioneer of tanker shipping.

In 1890, Riedemann, together with Franz and Carl Schütte and the Standard Oil Company of oil magnate John D. Rockefeller, co-founded the German-American Petroleum Company (DAPG), headquartered in Hamburg (since 1950 Esso).

Designed by Martin Haller in the Neo-Romanesque style, the mausoleum was dedicated by Riedemann to his deceased 19-year-old daughter, Sophie. Beneath the prominent burial chapel lies an underground crypt containing 35 burial sites. It also became the final resting place of other children of the couple, as well as for his brother, Heinrich Nikolaus Riedemann. Wilhelm Anton Riedemann was never buried in Ohlsdorf Cemetery; he lived in Lugano from 1917 onward and died there.
