Origin: After the end of the Second World War, the Berlin administration had rubble from the cleared war ruins and rubble dumped on the site between 1948 and 1950. Field railways and work trains from the Berlin tram were used as rubble trains, as well as trucks. The site was heaped up to a height of around 15 metres and shaped into a hill, covered with topsoil, planted with greenery and opened on September 18, 1955 as Park Gumbinner Grund. A total of around 40,000 cubic metres of material were used for final storage as the park base.

The renovation is now slowly being completed, the construction site fences are gone and the paths are drier in wet weather.
At the top of the hill, a well-used parkour corner has been added to the playground and basketball court. Here and there along the paths there is new sports equipment.
What is particularly nice is that the renovation has not destroyed the somewhat overgrown atmosphere typical of this park.
It is also good for jogging here, it goes up and down and through greenery, the route is small but varied.
