The Praterinsel is a built-up island in the Isar in the Lehel district. The restaurateur Michael Käfer runs an event location in former factory halls.

History: From 1867 to 1984, a factory belonging to the Riemerschmid company, event location since 1992, taken over by Michael Käfer in 2016
Special features: The Alpine Museum is another event location on the Praterinsel. The Maximilian Bridge leads over the Praterinsel to the Maximilianeum.

The development of the Praterinsel began after 1800, when an inn was built there, which was named "Praterwirtschaft" after the Viennese amusement park. Over time, a small park, a carousel and a dance hall were added. The island was soon only called Praterinsel. In 1870 the "Royal Bavarian privileged wine spirit, spirit, liqueur and vinegar factory" was established, which was in operation until 1984. In 1988 the factory halls were converted into studios, gallery and event rooms and today form a beautiful ensemble of buildings with the adjoining Alpine Museum of the Alpine Club.
