The Temple of Apollo in the Nymphenburg Palace Park stands on a peninsula on the shore of Lake Badenburg. It is a sandstone monopteros with ten columns in the Corinthian style. The building was built according to a plan by Leo von Klenze in 1862-65. Inside there is a stele with a dedication by King Ludwig I. It is an eye-catcher on the lake and allows the visitor a beautiful view over the water surface of the lake. Before the construction of this temple of Apollo, there was twice a wooden round temple on the promontory. The first was built in 1805 for the Electress' birthday. When this had become brittle, Friedrich Ludwig von Sckell suggested building a round stone temple. After his idea was rejected, a slightly larger replacement building made of larch wood was built in 1818.

The planning of the Apollo temple was done by the court architect Leo v. Klenze, built center d. 19th century. Geomancers have identified a place of power there because "an Axis Mundi" builds up in its interior by means of form resonance and by flushing with the 'solar' charged water inside. Can you keep what you want, but it feels like power place, if you can soak up the sun there.
