The Aurelianustoren or Orleanstoren is a corner tower of the higher part of the city walls and, thanks to its strategic position as the highest point in the region, it formed the most important vantage point for the old city fortifications. After the troubles at the end of the 16th century, the tower was probably not restored until the 17th century. The tower therefore dates in its current form from the 16th-17th century, but probably dates back to the period when Aarschot got its first city walls. The stairs leading to the Aurelianustoren from the current Albertlaan were constructed around 1937. Around the same time, the tower was also vaulted inside and a spiral staircase and orientation table were added.

Stiff climb from the Leuvensestraat to reach it. Is part of the former city walls of Aarschot. In Aarschot they call these "Orekatoren".

This corner tower is a remnant of the old city fortifications. It was destroyed and rebuilt several times. The current tower dates from the 16th-17th century. It is built of brick, iron sandstone and has layers of white stone.
The Orleans Tower is the highest point in the region.
From the top you have a fantastic panoramic view of Aarschot and the Demer Valley.
