"The Deilbachhammer is the last iron hammer preserved at its original location in the Essen city area. The building ensemble consists of the hammer building located directly on the Deilbach, along with mechanical inventory, the former master's house and a worker's house. The Deilbachhammer was probably created from a rural blacksmith's shop belonging to the Deilmann farm only developed into an independent commercial enterprise towards the end of the 18th century.

Closed as a commercial operation in 1917 due to a break in the hammer shaft, the hammer building and historical technology were restored in 1936/37 in a concerted effort by industry and public institutions: a commercial operation became a cultural monument.

Inadequate building maintenance in connection with the location near the water has severely affected the ensemble in recent decades."
