The Vogelherdgrotte is an impressive karst cave near Krottensee. It consists of Franconian dolomite (Malm). The cave experiences heavy recreational use.

But you can also enjoy this place wonderfully if you are there at the right time. The visit is particularly worthwhile in the morning and then you can feel the special flair of the Vogelherd grotto. Despite the notoriety, it can be a powerful place of calm!

A cave is depicted and perished on a display board. It is a cave ruin in the form of a rock hall with 2 entrances. The Vogelherdgrotte is an impressive, about 20 meter long passage cave. The cave is station 9 of the "Karstkundischer Wanderpfad". Station board with explanation is at the western entrance.

Very fascinating. Coming from below, the entrance is a little smaller. At first I didn't register that the official hiking trail goes through here. You should be sure-footed. Path to the grotto partly steep with many roots.
