On the site of this basilica, three Christians are said to be at the beginning of the fourth century AD. have suffered the martyrdom of Roman rule. Three siblings Vincente, Sabina and Kristeta refused the emperor cult. The church impresses with its simplicity and tranquility. The tomb of the three siblings is very impressive! As a place of remembrance it is empty. A painted stone frieze tells the story of her life.
In the crypt you can see a piece of natural rock on which this church was built. It is plausible that the three Christians fell down the rock outside the city wall and thus died. The Marten scene on the cenotaph probably reflects the cruelty of the torture methods of the Middle Ages, the time from which the tomb dates.
A special figure, called a scout, has probably always awakened the imagination of men, because it is not self-explanatory. So she was interpreted as a Jew, who would have betrayed the siblings in their flight. Later threatened by a snake he should be converted to Christianity. A grave plate in the ground near the cenotaph and an inscription on the wall tell of the fact that the Jew was then buried here. All, unfortunately, rather an early example of hostility to the Jews!
A nice story connects to the tomb of San Piedro de la Barca. He was buried by a mule and buried there where the mule had carried his coffin 80km.
