    Whether it's a printing works, trading office or metal workshop: At the Museum of Work you can experience Hamburg's industrial history.
    In the museum workshops, historical technology is demonstrated in action and you can get to know typical Hamburg work areas.
    The Museum of Work is located on the former factory site of the "New York-Hamburger Gummi-Waaren Compagnie". Where hard rubber combs were once made from rubber, today the focus is on hands-on activities.
    The Museum of Work shows the changes in life and work in Hamburg from the 19th century to the present day and presents typical Hamburg industries.

      Whether printing company, trading office, metal workshop or special exhibition: The Museum of Work in Hamburg-Barmbek shows Hamburg's industrial, technical and social history. TRUDE, with which the 4th Elbe tunnel tube was dug, stands on the museum courtyard as a technical monument.

        A very nice museum, highly recommended!
        It's closed on Tuesdays.
        Monday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.,
        Open Wednesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday/Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

          The Museum of Work is located on the former, listed factory site of the New York Hamburger Gummi-Waaren Compagnie from 1871. The museum's workshops are housed in the former boiler house from 1896.

          The museum itself is located in the New Factory from 1908. The ground floor and the
          first floor of the Old Factory from 1871 are available for exhibitions, events and rentals.
          The gatehouse, which has not yet been renovated, houses the museum's lithographic printing shop, among other things.
          The former "tin smelter" now houses the district cultural center of the same name. Like no other location in Hamburg, the impressive listed ensemble illustrates the industrialization of Hamburg.

          The landmark of the relatively young museum is T.R.U.D.E, the former cutting wheel of the world's largest tunnel boring machine, which was used from 1997 to 2000 to build the fourth tube of the Hamburg Elbe Tunnel. Since 2008, the house has belonged to the Hamburg Historical Museums Foundation.
