Padrón is a place of pilgrimage closely linked to Santiago. This is where the apostle is said to have delivered his first sermon.

The Pedrón is a sacrificial stone that was used in ancient times and that later served as the altar of this church. It is said that the ship that transported Santiago's body was moored to this stone. In the church of Santiago (Igrexa de Santiago) in Padrón, the murals refer to the historical event.

The history of this church dates back to the beginning of Christianity. In the neighboring Roman city of Iria Flavia was the port where the ship with the body of Santiago is said to have arrived. nice stop on the pilgrimage. Small place with a lot of tradition, but also life, especially on Saturdays (market) when people from the surrounding villages come to Padron to shop. An absolute must: enjoy the Pimentos de Padron in a restaurant or bar.
