Very interesting, a must-visit.

There is a 1.7 km long panoramic circular path with several viewing platforms around the pit. The circular path begins at the boulder garden and leads past the memorial stone for the deep drilling of 1872.

From 1869 to 1908, the brickworks was owned by the Möller family. The industrialization of Schleswig-Holstein with large factory buildings and the construction of numerous Prussian administrative buildings led to a great demand for bricks. In Elmshorn, numerous buildings were built with bricks from Lieth, e.g. the tower of St. Nikolai Church (1881), the Assmussen malt factory, the riding and driving school (1894), today's Bismarck School (1895), the water tower (1902).
