Välkjärvi Beach is perfect for a quiet break during your ride. You’ll find a small sandy shore, changing cabins, and a fireplace for grilling. The water is clear and usually calm, ideal for a refreshing swim.

At first glance, the forest looks like a completely ordinary pine forest. With a closer look, you can find, for example, the rare black bird pea or the red cat's paw among the bushes along the path. A special small fern, the slaty fern, thrives in the crevices of the rock outcrops. Finding it requires a keen eye and patience - did you succeed? Near the edge of the cliff, there are small treeless patches where beautiful rock and meadow flowers grow. Please avoid trampling them! The bellflower and meadow pansy delight with their colorful spots almost all summer long. The critically endangered mountain monk grows on the shelves of the cliff. It blooms in late summer and is easy to recognize by its hemispherical blue inflorescences. Cottongrass and liverwort are important food plants for butterflies - including the larvae of the endangered rock bluewing found on Rautvuori.

The Rautvuori trail is located north of Heinola in Ala-Rääveli. The Rautvuori moderate/difficult trail runs along a cliff, which is approximately a kilometer long and is a scenically significant east-west rocky area. The area is also worth visiting because of the endangered species. The cliff leading to the south is approximately 50 meters high. At the foot of the cliff, there is a handsome weathered quarry and a grove of trees, where hazel bushes and young linden trees grow, among other things. The grove, quarry and rock grow several endangered and rare mushrooms, lichens and plants. Near the trail is the parish's Hiljaisuuden piak. As its name suggests, it is intended for meditation, listening to nature, reflection on creation and existence, and prayer. A connecting route to Sulkavankoski starts from the parking lot, and from there continues via Tornimäki to Karhulampi and from there to Latumaja. Beautiful hiking trail around the lakes with many firepits, benches and picnic tables along the way. The trail is in very good condition but there are a lot of steep hills.
