The Grote Kerk, also known as "Enschede's living room," is part of the Wilminktheater & Muziekcentrum Enschede and can be rented for events and parties. Located on the Oude Markt, it is certainly the most central location. A special highlight is the beautiful Lambertus van Dam organ from 1892.

The magnificent arches, angles, and niches, as well as the special light distribution in the architecture of the octagonal St. Jacob's Church, make this church one of Enschede's most beautiful. On the south side of the "Grote Markt" (Grote Markt), stood the church of the same name, built in 1841/42 and designed by Kram. This church burned down completely in the devastating fire of 1862. The choice of the church type and architectural style stemmed from dissatisfaction with the standard of church construction in the 1820s and the excessive influence of the Gothic style. On Tuesdays, the market is smaller and many stalls are missing. On the other hand, it's also emptier, and the important stalls like the fish, poffertjes, stroopwafel, nut, fruit, and cheese stalls are still there.
