THE HISTORY The war memorial in Luttenberg (municipality of Raalte) was erected in memory of nineteen fellow citizens who died as a result of the explosion of a German V2 bomb on 4 December 1944. On 4 December 1944, a V2 bomb hit a meadow near the village of Luttenberg. Out of curiosity, many residents went to the spot to see what had landed. Since the flying bomb had not been dropped by an airplane, people initially thought it was food, but suddenly the monster exploded and nineteen bystanders were killed.
