A very fine mountain that is the high point of the Carneddau range. These mountains are high, remote and so much quieter than the Glyderau or Snowdon. Fabulous walking country.

Approaching from the north it is a slog on the bike but nothing technical. With the right gearing and fitness it's all rideable if you're happy to take your time and plod.

With a summit that’s just only twenty one metres lower than Y Wyddfa, a walk on to Carnedd Llewelyn is one that is well worth considering, especially if you prefer your summits free of the chaotic people like upon on Y Wyddfa does, but the Carneddau range is a very special place to experience It really is remarkable every where you look. I was shocked of how much of quieter beautiful mountain range that Wales’s second highest mountain actually is. The mountain is located in a vast wild area called The Carneddau. This is basically a largely untouched collection of mountains and valleys found in the north eastern part of the park. The Carnedd Llewelyn has a summit height of 1064m making Carnedd Llewelyn Wales’s Second Highest Mountain.

This section was just littered with sheep bones everywhere you looked. Maybe the infamous big cat feasting? who knows

beautiful views at the start of this route. a few streams and bridges along the way, the occasional farmer around, spoke welsh with them and all was good.

Not to be confused with the more prominent Drosgl in the western Carneddau, this Drosgl is a flattish section of Drum's northern spur. It forms a kind of final high lookout before the land drops away to the less lofty countryside below. As such, it makes for a fine place to look out towards Conwy and the Irish Sea.

Drum is one of the last vestiges of high ground before the Carneddau drop gradually towards the Irish Sea to the north. The views from up here are extensive, with Llwyntmor looking particularly impressive across Llyn Anafon. If you're lucky, you might meet some of the Carneddau's wild ponies while exploring.

At 3,490 feet (1,064 m) this is the highest point in the Carneddau range and the second-highest prominent peak in Wales. It's a vast, rocky plateau at the top of a steep climb but great running once you get there. It's also part of the Welsh 3000s challenge route.
