This historic trail, named after the Rosenheim physician and alpine pioneer Dr. Julius Mayr, was established at the beginning of the 20th century and remains one of the most beautiful climbs on the Brünnstein. The trail runs over rocky passages, mountain pine slopes, and secured rock steps, requiring surefootedness and a head for heights. The short sections equipped with cable cars lend the tour a touch of alpine character without being overwhelming. At the summit, hikers are treated to a unique panoramic view of the Inn Valley, the Wilder Kaiser Mountains, and the Chiemgau Alps—as well as the striking little Brünnstein Chapel, picturesquely perched on the rock.
