This is a pleasant spot for a break when walking the Sailor's Stroll at the Devil's Punchbowl. The story goes that the Devil scooped up a giant handful of earth to throw at Thor, the God of Thunder, leading to the dramatic depression seen today. It's a gorgeous place to explore.

Hindhead Trig-point is at the top of Gibbet Hill, the second highest hill in Surrey at 273 m, in the beautiful area of the Devil’s Punchbowl. OS - S1535

The Sailor’s Stone actually has a curse written on the back of it cursing any man that would remove it.

Haslemere is a great place to start a trail run. It has a railway station with frequent trains from London or Portsmouth and is surrounded by beautiful common land, hills and woodlands. You can run to the Devil's Punchbowl, Blackdown, Marley Common and into the South Downs National Park from here. There are also plenty of places to eat and drink afterwards too. Hemmingway's is always a popular option if you love cake.
