Shortheath Common is ancient common land that has special conservation status in recognition of its many habitats. There’s a bridleway which cuts through the common from the village green at Oakhanger to Shortheath pond. Look out for rare ground-nesting birds such as woodlark and nightjar which are commonly sighted here.
