magnificent view and superb basilica

Maria Taferl offers one of the most impressive views in the entire Danube Valley: Perched high above the river, the basilica's forecourt offers a sweeping panorama of the Lower Austrian landscape. The view extends across the Danube Valley to the rolling hills of the Mostviertel region, and on a clear day, far into the Alps. The Danube winds its way through the plains below, forming a striking contrast to the elevated location of the pilgrimage site. The vantage point is particularly popular at sunrise and sunset – an unforgettable moment of peace and expanse for cyclists and day-trippers.

A magnificent palace, and especially the palace grounds with their ancient trees and islands of flowers. We arrived just in time to admire the beautiful peonies.
