One of the few shelters on the trail. Crowded by cyclists.

The Zechin outdoor pool is one such place, where village community and summer fun meet. Behind the gate with its hand-painted lettering are a lawn, a kiosk, Wi-Fi, and a natural swimming pond that could hardly be more reminiscent of childhood memories. Clouds drift across the sky, the water sparkles, and somewhere an ice cream truck song blares. Brandenburg at its best.

Beautiful, flat landscape. Great if you want to watch birdlife or just clear your head.

Directly below the bridge on Zechiner Hauptstrasse over the Letschiner Hauptgraben is the boat and canoe pier of the Oderbruch Camp's Zechin, which reminds me a little of the Spreewald. To get to the camp or the parking lot, you first have to walk about 150 m along a drainage ditch until you can cross it in a westerly direction.

At this point a massive bridge on the Oderbruchbahn led over the Letschiner main ditch. While the route of the route can still be made out on the Friedrichsau side, on the northern side there is a field with no visible traces of the Oderbruch Railway. The path turns west here and leads along the Letschiner Hauptgraben to the Zechin outdoor swimming pool.

From 1911 to 1966 there was a stop on the Oderbruchbahn in Friedrichsaue. Furthermore, the branch line to Genschmar began from here and went into operation on October 8, 1912. Operations were stopped in April 1945 and only resumed between Fürstenwalde and Dolgelin in April 1946. Shortly afterwards, a large part of the route in the Oderbruch was destroyed by flooding. Trains did not run again between Zechin and Golzow (also in Friedrichsaue) in September 1948. The branch line from Friedrichsaue to Genschmar was not rebuilt. Friedrichsaue also became known for a railway accident on November 28, 1944. In a forest near Friedrichsaue and in heavy fog, the T 71 railcar coming from Friedrichsaue collided head-on with a local freight train traveling from the direction of Dolgelin. The railcar and several freight cars derailed and were seriously damaged. The railcar driver and the train driver lost their lives. Contemporary witnesses spoke of seven to nine dead and many seriously injured, especially those on holiday at the front. The cause was human error (incorrectly set switch).
