Aumühle Castle is a wonderful, historic building. Like the town of Atzenbrugg itself, the history of the castle is closely linked to Franz Schubert and the Schubert Circle. The Aumühle was first mentioned in 1211 and was verifiably renovated on a large scale in 1652. The castle was built between 1652 and 1720 by the Counts of Althan and remained in their possession for many years. The former castle chapel was on the ground floor.
