In Schmarbeck near Faßberg, two thatched sheepfolds have been preserved, standing side by side and representing a striking example of traditional heathland building culture. The dam is located right at the beginning of the tour from the 'Auf der kalten Hude' parking lot at the underpass of Lüneburger Straße. The sound of the rushing water is very pleasant. St. George's Church in Hanstedt I, in the Uelzen district, is one of the oldest fieldstone churches in Northern Germany. The Romanesque nave probably dates back to 980. The Gothic choir, built of brick, was added around 1400 to 1500 and features a cross-ribbed vault. The current west tower dates from 1887 and replaced an earlier defensive tower. It is located at the starting point of the Resurrection Trail, a 4-kilometer-long spiritual path with 13 art stations that leads to the monastery church in Ebstorf.
