The Ilmenau is an 86-kilometer-long (125-kilometer-long with its source, the Stederau) left and southern tributary of the Elbe in northeastern Lower Saxony. With an average water flow of around 18 cubic meters per second, it is by far the largest river in the Lüneburg Heath. A beautiful route with gentle hills

St. Mary's Church in Suhlendorf is considered a prime example of neo-Gothic architecture in the region. The church remains largely in its original condition, with the exception of a renovation in 1964. The church windows were restored in 2017, and the interior was restored in 2024.
