The wooded geest area (Dithmarscher Schweiz) is 72 m above sea level on the Rugebarg. NN the highest point in the community. The well-known “Heidberg” is 46 m above sea level. The Tielenau rises in the southwestern part of the district forest and flows into the Eider via Tellingstedt. One of the oldest churches in Dithmarschen is in Tellingstedt. Since the 12th century stands the Romanesque stone church in the middle of the village. The interior, which is typical for this area - quite gloomy, lots of wood, slightly musty smell - conveys peace and stability. A nice place to stay. The first pottery was founded in Tellingstedt 300 years ago. In 1850 there were already 17 companies here. The decorations of the "Tellingstedter style" became well known. Until 1999, this style was preserved in the last pottery, until the craft died out here.
