During our hikes in May, there was still hard snow on the ground, making the ropes below inaccessible in some places. This could unintentionally make the tour more dangerous. Please keep this in mind when choosing a route.

Wonderful winter hike

The route from Damüls over both Alps is very varied and it is hard to escape the views of the mountains. The most delicious cheese is still made on the upper Alpe and I was even allowed into the stable where I was explained how the cows get to their parking spaces and how the cheese was made. You could also pet the mountain pigs and you could see how happy the animals are living here. On the hike there is a large swing that invites you to linger and it is great fun to swing high up in the mountains. The small chapel is a dream and can be walked into. You somehow hold your breath and become very quiet when you enter it. The age of the chapel itself cannot be dated precisely. The year 1689 is written on one of the window lintel, but this may not be the year it was built. Continuing on to the lower Damüls Alpe, you get a completely different view of the tour, the view keeps changing its facets, in the lower Alpe you can get one of the most delicious goat cheeses wrapped in bacon, there too you can see the love for their own products.

Once you have completed the first climb, the full splendor of the mountain range opens up before you. From the upper Alpe there are many options for continuing the hike. The further you hike, the stronger the desire to reach all the summit crosses becomes. A stop at the Alpe is a must for me. The food and drinks are excellent and at the end I was able to go into the stable to see the cows and was also given a short introduction to the art of cheese making.
