The Raspaillebos is a place with many stories and legends and 't Iffraken is part of that. During the Middle Ages, the forest provided shelter to the Pigs of the Raspaille Forest, a group of irregulars who took shelter there after plundering raids. Robber chief Jan De Lichte also sought shelter in this dense forest. In the second half of the 19th century, a small chapel dedicated to Saint Apollonia was built in the forest near a source. Anyone who wanted to be freed from stabbing toothache went there for a quick prayer. That location is said to have once served as a Celtic cult site. You can relax there for a while.
