Maredsous Abbey is known for its beautiful location in the Molignée Valley, but visitors will discover an additional gem: the tranquil courtyard. This square cloister garden forms the tranquil heart of the abbey and is surrounded by neo-Gothic cloisters. Here, the Benedictine monks traditionally walked in silence from one building to the next. In the center of the garden stands a simple fountain, which, together with the well-maintained greenery, creates a serene atmosphere. The courtyard can only be visited during official guided tours, but from behind the galleries, you'll have a beautiful view of this historic site. Those passing through Maredsous—on foot, by bike, or while touring the Molignée region—will find a moment of peace and contemplation in this garden. It is a place where architecture, nature, and silence converge perfectly.

Summer and winter it is always very pleasant to walk along the Ravel along the draisines☺️

The castle is currently being renovated. An art trail is also being set up: you will be able to see some beautiful and original sculptures. Perhaps you will be tempted by an ice cream or a glass of apple juice a few meters further down.

Ruins of Montaigle © Aurélie Ducroze Montaigle, an exceptional monumental site in Wallonia, is situated on a rocky spur in a romantic setting whose magic transports you back to the time of the knights. A visit to the ruins of this imposing fortress, once a count's residence (14th century), and to the archaeological museum will open a window onto an extraordinarily rich medieval world. In the 100 m² museum, the history of the site and the monument is told through a thematic and chronological exhibition of objects discovered on site (crossbow bolts, cannonballs, tools, pieces of crockery, medals, coins, stained glass, paving stones, slates, jewelry, etc.). The architecture of the fortress and the challenges of saving a threatened monument are also discussed.

A great place to eat and drink a variety of things. Many walks start from here.

Difficult passage (km 7.5) over 50 meters: very rocky, can be slippery in the rain, trees fallen but cut (May 30, 2025).
