A very large construction project for the Mühlhausen bypass will take place near Mühlhausen, Thuringia, in 2024 as part of the construction of the new B247. The earthworks were carried out with very impressive machines and enormous earth movements.

Our first destination is the watercress spring north of the municipality of Reiser in the Unstrut-Bogen. This is rather less known, the spring pot is largely left in its natural state. The Unstrut Cycle Path is a 191 km long cycle and hiking trail along the Unstrut in Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt. From the source of the Unstrut near Kefferhausen in the Eichsfeld, the path leads via Dingelstädt, Mühlhausen, Bad Langensalza, Sömmerda, Griefstedt, Heldrungen, Artern, Roßleben, Nebra, Laucha an der Unstrut and Freyburg (Unstrut) to the blooming ground of Großjena at the mouth of the river into the Saale near the cathedral city of Naumburg (Saale).
