Directly on the southern slope of the highest elevation are the so-called Hünenlöcher (Hünen holes), two remarkable sinkholes with a diameter of approximately 25 meters and a depth of approximately 5 meters. These have been protected as natural monuments since 1941.

It's worth a stop. Great food at reasonable prices.

Former Cistercian nunnery from 1268 to 1810. After that it was mainly used for agricultural purposes and from 1950/51 also for industrial purposes. It was bought by the municipality of Bickenriede in 1994. Since then it has been restored in order to preserve the historical structure and to be able to use the buildings again.

Easy to walk around in autumn even with sturdy shoes. Easy to reach from Anrode Monastery through a beautiful forest.

Anrode Monastery there is still a lot of work to do, but it's worth it.

The control room is on Bundesstraße 247 from Mühlhausen to Dingelstädt, an old road crossing between the Free Imperial City of Mühlhausen and the Electoral Mainz Eichsfeld. It is located at about 375 m above sea level. NHN on the eastern roof of the Eichsfelder Höhe between the forest area of the Hollau and the Langen Mark. It is the only one of the former nine control rooms of the Mühlhausen Landgraben that has been preserved. The round tower, built around 1360/80, is made of quarry stone masonry and has a conical roof. The control room has a height of 13.5 m and a diameter of about 5.80 m with a wall thickness between 0.70 and 1.00 m. Source: Wikipedia
