As the city's ruler, the bishop was always keen to ensure the square remained undeveloped, so as not to obstruct the view of the cathedral and the adjacent bishop's palace. Very steep but plenty of shade. A very beautiful alpine pasture with excellent food. Very friendly owners. Delicious homemade Graukäse cheese is available for purchase.

The beautiful old town is a must-see for every visitor to Brixen. Narrow streets lined with small shops and restaurants make for a fun-filled visit. The cathedral and its adjacent cloister are also a must-see.

Be sure to take the guided tour to the upper fortress...the 452 steps reward you with a beautiful view.
