Hochnaturns Castle stands approximately one kilometer above Naturno. A Romanesque tower once stood there, later rebuilt in the medieval style. In the mid-13th century, the Oswald Tower was built, named after Knight Oswald of Naturno, a Knight of the Teutonic Order. Since then, Hochnaturns Castle has been the ancestral seat of the Lords of Naturno. Then, from the mid-14th century onward, came the Lords of Maretsch and Völs.
