Following the trail markers, you walk along a beautiful stretch of the ancient mule track, still intact in many parts, before briefly rejoining a dirt road, only to return almost immediately to a footpath that crosses a landslide area. As you head deeper into the Torreggio valley, you reach the alpine meadows of Alpe Son at 1364 meters. Here, you leave the path to Rifugio Bosio and turn left towards Piasci. After crossing the bridge over the Torreggio stream, the trail climbs steadily along a ridge and leads to Piasci at 1700 meters, an alpine pasture dotted with mostly renovated stone huts. From here, the view opens wide, offering a sweeping panorama across much of the Valmalenco valley.

This accommodation is the last one on the Sentiero di Roma if you start from Novate Mezzola. A hot shower costs only 2 euros (September 2024).

Good starting point to reach the Alta Via della Valmalenco, Rif. Cometti, Rif. Bosio Galli etc…
