The Kaiserstein (2,061 m) marks one of the most famous points on the Schneeberg. A memorial plaque commemorates the ascents of Emperor Franz I in 1805 and 1807. From the summit, you can enjoy an impressive panorama of the Rax, the Vienna Basin, and, on a clear day, all the way to the Hohe Tauern—a place steeped in history and offering breathtaking views.

The Edelweiss Hut on the Schneeberg (1,235 m) is idyllically located at the end of the toll road and is a popular starting point for hikes. From here, you can already enjoy beautiful views of the Schneeberg massif and fortify yourself with regional delicacies. It's a cozy place to stop for a break, rest, and start your hike.

The Fadensteig is one of the most popular, yet more challenging, ascent routes up the Schneeberg. Steep paths and rocky sections quickly gain elevation and reward you with impressive views along the way. A route for sure-footed hikers who appreciate alpine terrain and magnificent panoramas.

The ascent from Gutenstein is tough (3 km) but paved. On the way back, you can take the Wurzelweg (root path). Mariahilfberg has developed into a popular pilgrimage site since 1661 due to an alleged Marian apparition. The monastery has been run by the Servites since 1672. The current building was erected after the previous building burned down in 1724 at the instigation of Count Hoyos (see Hoyos Castle in Gutenstein). An inn and several stalls selling devotional items complete the complex.

The summit of the Schober – the iron summit cross stands at the top, next to it the summit book – ready for your signature. Anyone who signs will remain in the Schober climbers’ Hall of Fame forever – or at least until the next downpour.
