The first buildings in the fishing village arose along the Alter Strom (Old Stream) in Warnemünde: small, whitewashed captain's and fishermen's houses with thatched roofs, often colorfully decorated doors, and low gables facing the water. Narrow alleys led to the harbor, where fishing boats docked. Alexandrinenstraße, in particular, running parallel to the stream, still displays this historic structure today: narrow lots, densely built rows of small houses, and a maritime flair that preserves the original character of the town.

The Warnemünde Marina, also known as Hohe Düne, has an interesting history closely linked to the development of the seaside resort of Warnemünde and the port of Rostock. Originally founded as a fishing village, Warnemünde developed into a popular seaside resort in the 19th century and acquired a harbor that has been expanded and redesigned several times over the years. It's truly impressive to see all the yachts moored there.

The beach at Markgrafenheide has nothing to hide from that of Warnemünde. It's a bit rougher, yet more natural, and above all, much quieter and just as beautiful.

The port of Warnemünde boasts its "Alte Strom" harbor, the "Sports Boat and Sailing Harbor," and, of course, the large "Warnemünde Seaport" with cruise and ferry terminals, a shipyard, and a naval harbor. So there's always something to see.
