Between Moso and San Leonardo in Passiria, the Passirio stream (Passer in German) forms a suggestive gorge near the hamlet of Plata. From here you can see it from above, while you can walk on an iron footbridge. It is a very suggestive walkway.

St. Leonhard is centrally located in the Passeier Valley at the point where the valley, which until then had been running roughly in a north-south direction, bends to the northwest. The municipal area extends over around 15 km almost exclusively on the orographic left, i.e. eastern and northern side of the Passer, where the border with the neighboring community of St. Martin largely runs. St. Leonhard emerged from a parish that Bishop Gebhard of Trent consecrated in 1116 and which King Frederick II gave to the Teutonic Order in 1219.
