Sturdy footwear is recommended. There are some very old mountain villages along the route.

Genestredo is worth a visit a splendid hamlet of Genestredo, it is easily reachable with a 20-minute walk, continuing along the path that runs alongside the Visconti Castle, taking the ancient mule track. The ancient village is dotted with stone houses that feature fascinating medieval decorations. A sign along the path will show you the way to get a little further on to the ruins of the Rocca, immersed in the woods. The Rocca was a fortress presumably built around 1000/1100, linked to the vicissitudes of the Vogogna Castle. In November, the village is the protagonist of a nice event near the oratory: the Feast of San Martino. I recommend you go to the Circo ARCI in Genestredo, a group of very kind members will welcome you with a mouth-watering menu, open only on Saturday and Sunday ...

The village of Vogogna The medieval village of Vogogna, in the province of Verbano – Cusio – Ossola, is immersed in the green mountains of the Val Grande National Park, at 226 meters above sea level. It is located in the heart of the Val d’Ossola, a short distance from Lake Maggiore. It is part of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy and in 2011 it was awarded the Orange Flag by the Italian Touring Club. The origin of the name Vogogna derives from Vallis Agonum, meaning village of the Agoni, the Gaulish people who first settled in this territory. The Romans settled there, as evidenced by a tombstone dated 196 AD which refers to the construction of a road, and it is in a document from 970 AD that the village is mentioned for the first time

Beautiful and simple walk (460 m altitude difference) from Colloro to Capraga (963 m), in the Valgrande National Park, with the possibility of doing a short circular tour from the church of San Bernardo to Capraga and back.

This church in Vogogna is not dedicated to one of the countless saints - people who lived their Christian faith in an exemplary manner, or even died as martyrs (martyrs) for it - and whom we now venerate as intercessors at God's throne. Here, people have turned directly to Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer: this church and parish have been entrusted to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
