Valpisella is a stone building dating back to the first half of the 19th century. More recently the building was renovated and taken over by the ANPI of Forlì. Today it is possible to use the services present in the structure (bathrooms, kitchen and dining room) and stay overnight upon reservation. During the summer months the ANPI organizes various cultural events, you can consult the dedicated Facebook page for further information.

Premilcuore, like many other villages in the area, experienced its period of maximum expansion around the 13th and 14th centuries under the dominion of the Guidi family. In this period the castle known as Rocca di Premilcuore was built, today not much remains of this structure except one of the doors and remains of the walls incorporated into other buildings in subsequent periods. The life of Premilcuore is linked to the course of the Rabbi river. Today the river is a popular summer destination to escape the heat, while in the past the watercourse served to irrigate the surrounding fields and gave power to various mills in the area, two of which are still visible near the town.

The Braccina Pass is located in the heart of the Casentinesi Forest Park, along the road connecting the Bidente valley and the Rabbi valley. The climb to reach it is very similar on both sides, with about 6 kilometers at 7% average.

Attention: when you arrive at the point between Mount Arsiccia and Mount Tiravento, it is important to continue to follow the red and white signs of the CAI (which in fact at the point of which I speak clearly signal to turn left and not continue straight) and not the loaded path here on Komoot. This in fact continues on the ridge and reaches a point no longer marked, where the path stops and there is the risk of slipping down the cliff due to the ground, composed of thin and very slippery gravel. In the path that I have loaded (I hope you see) there is a screen in which I mark the point in question. Following the CAI path instead zero risks. For the rest, very nice ride!

The origins of Premilcuore are mysterious, although there are several versions and legends about its foundation. The most fascinating and imaginative version is linked to the legend of the Roman soldier named Marcello, who fled Rome at the time of Caracalla, because he was part of a conspiracy against the emperor, and who found refuge in these places. Marcello fortified the small villages already existing, one of which, the current via Marciolame, is named in honor of its founder. And even the name of Premilcuore seems to date back to “PREMIT COR” (“pain oppresses our hearts” for the death of their benefactor) or to “PREMUNT COR” (“rather than hand him over we would tear out our hearts” because the Roman captain was wanted to be killed). Valpisella is a stone building dating back to 1872 and subsequently converted into a holiday home by the ANPI, it is located on the mountain overlooking the town of Corniolo, in the municipality of Santa Sofia, at an altitude of just over 800 metres. The house is located between the forest and large meadows near a pond on the border of the Natural Park. Valpisella is a structure managed by the ANPI, it is easily reachable by car, it is possible to spend the day using the services of the structure (kitchen, WC, tables, etc..) and also stay overnight in the rooms of the building. From Strada San Zeno except for a stretch of 10% at km 1, a more 'regular' climb than the climb on the Galeata side.
