Its fame stems from the fact that, due to the lake's unstable water level, this small tree is periodically submerged and then resurfaces during times of drought, resulting in much-photographed imagery and becoming a symbol of the "ghost" lake.

It is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. A mix of ancient and modern with Roman ruins integrated into the city of ancient memory.

The last Carthusian died a few years ago and now the charterhouse is just a monument to visit, but it is still worth it. The church, also beautiful, is still consecrated.
