Starting point for various routes

In the small town of Opi, in Abruzzo, there are countless karst springs and one of these forms the Fondillo stream. It is one of the first tributaries of the Sangro stream, which gives its name to the valley of the same name.

Small village on the shores of Lake Barrea, in the Abruzzo National Park, it is immersed in a suggestive natural environment.

Inside the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, surrounded by mountains, there is Lake Barrea which overlooks the three villages: Villetta Barrea, Barrea and Civitella Alfedena.

Villetta Barrea is located on the Sangro river in the shadow of Mount Mattone and it is not uncommon for you to come across splendid specimens of deer in its streets. The town was built around the 13th century castle. There are two museums to visit, the transhumance museum and the water museum.

The medieval village of Civitella Alfedena is located on Lake Barrea at 1,212 meters above sea level. Its narrow streets and stone houses make the village very suggestive and in the center there is the visitor point and the Apennine wolf museum. Many people leave from here to go on excursions in the Camosciara nature reserve.

Acquafondata, in Lazio, is renowned for its connection with the bagpipe and its agricultural and tourist context in the Mainarde. It boasts the historic Church of San Giovanni Battista, the Church of Sant'Antonio and the devout Sanctuary of the Madonna del Carmine.

Vallerotonda, in Lazio, is a small municipality in the province of Frosinone. Surrounded by the Mainarde mountains and Lake Selva, it has an important war history and boasts oil production and wood craftsmanship.
