The Church was rebuilt in the first half of the 17th century, on the same site as the previous one which dated back to the mid-11th century. The renovation works on the new Cathedral lasted about nine years and ended in 1635. The interior is in the shape of a Greek cross, 38 meters long and 16.50 meters high.
